“CREANDO SISTEMAS” CON VERÓNICA RAMÍREZ MARTELL

Aprenda a crear sistemas y administrar el flujo de trabajo de su negocio artístico utilizando Google Workspace, una herramienta virtual sin costo. Verónica les ayudará a delinear su práctica de la mejor manera posible para administrar su tiempo virtual y así maximizar su negocio creativo. Les participantes aprenderán o mejorarán sus conocimientos sobre Google Documents y Google Sheets.

El taller se llevará a cabo junto a una tradicional Fiesta del Sorullo: Skillsharing Potluck de Poetry is Busy Studio, donde compartiremos saberes, mejores prácticas para expandir tu vida artística y destrezas que han sido de beneficio para tu creatividad. Además de refrigerios y comida ligera, provista por A4A + PIBS, se invita a les artistas  a traer un plato para compartir si desean.

¡Ven a pasarla bien y compartir con colegas, amistades y nuevas redes de afecto en el plano profesional! Únete a otres creatives latines mientras conversamos sobre el panorama del sector cultural y la mejor manera de recorrerlo.

Verónica Ramírez Martell es una artista, educadora y administradora de artes multidisciplinaria fascinada por la mejora de procesos y enfocada en la conexión humana. Actualmente está cursando una Maestría en Biblioteca e Información en la Universidad Simmons para combinar su experiencia de campo con habilidades técnicas. Verónica se desempeñó como Oficial de Programas para la Iniciativa Comunitaria del Mass Cultural Council, apoyando a los consejos culturales locales en Berkshire, Plymouth y el condado de Worcester a través de capacitación, desarrollo profesional y desarrollo de capacidades. Antes de eso, trabajó como coordinadora de programas y enseñó dentro del programa de asociación entre escuelas y comunidades de la Escuela de Bellas Artes y Artes Aplicadas Eliot, llevando la educación artística a las escuelas públicas y centros comunitarios dentro del área metropolitana de Boston. Durante todo este tiempo, Verónica continúa enseñando tanto a niños como a adultos en una variedad de temas y manualidades con pasión por fomentar el disfrute, la confianza y la experimentación en los estudiantes. A lo largo de su trabajo, Verónica defiende la creatividad, la documentación y la transparencia como método para el desarrollo de capacidades comunitarias.

“ARTIVISMO Y BIENESTAR” CON MAR PARRILLA

Este taller de danza interactivo brinda a la comunidad de artistas y activistas la oportunidad de profundizar en los desafíos y luchas que obstaculizan nuestra sostenibilidad. Utilizando el modelo de Danza para Justicia Social™ de Danza Orgánica, les participantes tendrán la oportunidad de compartir y encuerpar sus historias, con la oportunidad única de colectivamente imaginar y diseñar estrategias para un camino más sostenible para hacer este trabajo de manera eficiente. Este taller está diseñado para todes les cuerpes y capacidades, y priorizará nuestro bienestar individual y colectivo.

Se anima a los participantes a traer ropa cómoda para moverse, y botella de agua.

Taíno Afroborikua y coreógrafa galardonada, Mar Parrilla es la directora artística y fundadora de Danza Orgánica (DO). Es una madre orgullosa, artista de movimientos interdisciplinarios, educadora y organizadora comunitaria. Después de obtener una licenciatura en Idiomas (italiano, francés) de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Mar cruzó el océano hasta Nueva York, donde completó una Maestría en Educación en Danza en la Universidad de Nueva York. Ahora residente de Boston, Parrilla ha recibido varios premios de la Fundación para las Artes de Nueva Inglaterra, la Fundación de Boston y la Fundación BARR, entre otras. También recibió el premio Brother Thomas Fellowship Award de la Boston Foundation y el premio Outstanding Community Arts Collaboration Award in Dance de Arts/Learning Organization.

Mar es la fundadora del aclamado programa Dance for Social Justice™, así como la productora fundadora del aclamado festival anual con sede en Boston: We Create!. Parrilla es una artista destacada en el Museo Isabella Stewart Gardner, donde se le ha encargado la creación de obras artísticas y continúa colaborando en varias capacidades. En 2018, Danza Orgánica recibió una Residencia de Desarrollo Creativo en Jacob's Pillow, donde también actuaron en el Inside/Out Festival. Actualmente, continúan esta asociación con Jacob's Pillow a través de su programa exclusivo: Dance for Social Justice™. Desde 2018, DO ha estado trabajando en estrecha colaboración con miembros de la tribu Aquinnah Wampanoag a través de una asociación de varios años con el Centro Cultural Aquinnah para el desarrollo y presentación de Âs Nupumukômun. También están colaborando con artistas radicados en Puerto Rico en un intercambio cultural contínuo hacia el desarrollo de Melaza: un proyecto que explora la relación colonial entre Puerto Rico y los Estados Unidos de América del Norte. Más recientemente (2021), Danza Orgánica recibió el premio Powering Cultural Futures Multi Year Partnership con la Fundación BARR.

En este taller Veronica Robles compartirá un manual práctico, táctico y efectivo para crear, promover y monetizar tu trabajo creativo.

Aprenderás procesos que te ayudarán a optimizar tu tiempo administrativo para dedicarle más tiempo a tu creatividad. Te guiaré para armar un paquete promocional o portafolio artístico (Press Kit), y un sistema para promocionar tus eventos, presentaciones, exhibiciones o trabajos, así como una estrategia de networking para artistas. También te mostraré cómo crear un formulario para solicitudes de contrataciones. Además, recibirás información sobre una oportunidad muy accesible para obtener subsidios para tu proyecto en tu ciudad.

Verónica Robles, también conocida como "La Mera, Mera", no sólo es una talentosa cantante y músico de mariachi, sino que también se ha convertido en un importante ícono cultural en Boston. Su impactante trabajo aprovecha el poder de las artes y la cultura para unir comunidades y defender la diversidad. Como cofundadora y directora del Centro Cultural Verónica Robles (VROCC) y fundadora de la primera banda de mariachis exclusivamente femenina de Boston, continúa dejando una marca indeleble en el paisaje cultural de la ciudad.

Robles es cofundadora y directora del Centro Cultural Verónica Robles (VROCC), que apoya la acción comunitaria y el crecimiento económico en East Boston y ofrece programación de arte y cultura latinoamericana que empodera a los jóvenes enseñándoles sobre sus raíces y diversas culturas, ofreciéndoles empleo y oportunidades.

En 2022 la Cadena Univision incluyó a Robles entre los 10 latinos más influyentes a nivel nacional en la categoría “MiUnivisionario” por su trabajo como cofundadora y directora de (VROCC). También recibió el premio Change Maker 2021 ofrecido por el Institute for Nonprofit Practice.

La Sra. Robles recibió el Premio Ohtli. Este Premio es una de las distinciones más altas y muy limitadas que otorga el Gobierno de México.

Veronica es una luminaria del Neighborhood Salon en el Museo Isabella Stewart Gardner y es una artista del programa Celebrity Series de Boston Neighborhood Arts. Desde 2002 hasta 2014, Verónica coprodujo y presentó un popular programa de televisión titulado “Orale con Verónica”, transmitido en 20 ciudades de la región de Nueva Inglaterra y en Telemundo Boston. Actualmente, el programa se transmite en Super Boston 99.9 FM, la primera y única estación de radio de máxima potencia 24 horas al día, 7 días a la semana en Boston, también se transmite por Radio Vida 1300 AM y Facebook Live los martes a las 10 a.m.

Verónica fue homenajeada por el alcalde Walsh con un mural con su imagen con su traje de Mariachi en Pari Street en East Boston; El alcalde también la nombró miembro de la junta directiva de la iniciativa Boston Creates y se desempeña como presidenta de la Cámara de Comercio de East Boston y es miembro de la junta asesora de BostonHarbor Now.

Como cantante, Verónica ha actuado en lugares como The Memorial Hatch Shell y Fenway Park, el Museo de Bellas Artes de Boston, el Carnegie Hall y el Lincoln Center de Nueva York, el Providence Performing Arts Center de Rhode Island y el Centro de Convenciones de Dallas.

En 2018, Verónica fundó la "Primera banda de mariachis exclusivamente femenina de Boston". La misión de este grupo es transmitir un mensaje de paz y unidad en todas sus presentaciones y presentaciones públicas. Verónica y su banda femenina han realizado giras por la región de Nueva Inglaterra y se han presentado en innumerables festivales y lugares importantes y han recibido una excelente cobertura mediática por parte de los principales medios de comunicación.

En 2019 Verónica Robles lanzó un nuevo álbum musical titulado “Cuando Sale la Luna”, grabado con su banda de mariachi exclusivamente femenina y producido por Willy López. El álbum incluye 9 canciones tradicionales de México y una canción nueva escrita por Willy López. También lanzó su primer canal de YouTube para compartir su música con sus fans.

En 2023, la Oficina de Arte y Cultura de la Alcaldesa de la Ciudad de Boston contrató a A4A para ofrecer una variedad de recursos para artistas que viven o trabajan en Boston y Greater Boston. ¡Estaremos realizando en los próximos dos años asesoría individualizada y tus talleres favoritos en tu idioma, además de actividades para cultivar comunidad y emplear prácticas de cuidado que permitan continuar el trabajo artístico sostenido!

Esta colaboración está financiada por la Oficina de Arte y Cultura de la Alcaldesa de la Ciudad de Boston y los Fondos de Recuperación bajo la Ley del Plan de Rescate Americano (ARPA, por sus siglas en inglés)

Assets for Artists de MASS MoCA es un programa dirigido por, y centrado en, artistas que reúne recursos y estrategias para que les creatives continúen carreras autodeterminadas mientras navegan un sistema económico que está en su contra. Avanzamos en esta misión abogando por las necesidades de les artistas, redistribuyendo recursos directamente a les artistas y creando oportunidades para que estén en comunidad, participen en el aprendizaje entre pares y obtengan herramientas para navegar los desafíos de nuestro sistema económico actual al mismo tiempo que configuran uno más equitativo.

In an effort to expand our offerings to the Latine community, Assets for Artists is collaborating with the newly opened arts & events initiative Poetry Is Busy Studio, LLC (PIBS), led by our former grantee and artist advisor Yara Liceaga-Rojas, to create a professional development program in Spanish.

Typical business training often doesn’t meet the needs of creative entrepreneurs, so we built a roster of courses that are artist-tailored, artist-led, and FREE.

Learn how to create systems and manage your arts businesses workflow using the no cost Google Workspace. Veronica will assist you to outline your practice in the best way to manage your virtual time to maximize your creative business. Participants will learn, or enhance, their knowledge of Google Documents as well as Google Sheets.

At this Fiesta del Sorullo: Skillsharing Potluck party, we’ll share best practices to expand your art life and skills that’ll nurture your creativeness. Although A4A + PIBS will provide snacks and light food, artists are invited to bring a plate to share if they wish.

Verónica Ramírez Martell is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and arts administrator fascinated by process improvement and focused on human connection. They are currently pursuing a Master’s in Library and Information at Simmons University to weave together their field experience with technical skills. Verónica served as Program Officer for Mass Cultural Council’s Community Initiative, supporting local cultural councils in Berkshire, Plymouth, and Worcester County through coaching, professional development, and capacity building. Prior to that, they worked as a Program Coordinator and taught within the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts’ School and Community Partnership program, bringing art education to public schools and community centers within the Greater Boston area. During all this time, Verónica continues to teach both children and adults in a variety of topics and crafts with a passion for encouraging enjoyment, confidence, and experimentation in students. Throughout their work, Verónica champions creativity, documentation, and transparency as a method for community capacity-building.

Artivism and Wellbeing w/ mar Parilla

This interactive dance workshop gives the community of artists and activists an opportunity to delve into challenges and struggles that get in the way of our sustainability. Using Danza Organica’s Dance for Social Justice™ model, participants will have the opportunity to share and embody their stories, with the unique opportunity to collectively envision and strategize a more sustainable path to do this work efficiently. This workshop is designed for all bodies and abilities, and will prioritize our individual and collective well-being. 

Participants are encouraged to bring comfortable clothes to move in, and a water bottle.

Taíno Afroborikua and award-winning choreographer Mar Parrilla is the founding artistic director of Danza Orgánica (DO). She is a proud mother, interdisciplinary movement artist, educator, and community organizer. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Languages ​​(Italian, French) from the University of Puerto Rico, Mar crossed the ocean to New York, where she completed a Master's Degree in Dance Education at New York University. Now a resident of Boston, Parrilla has received several awards from the New England Foundation for the Arts, the Boston Foundation, and the BARR Foundation, among others. In 2018, Danza Orgánica received a Creative Development Residency at Jacob's Pillow, where they also performed at the Inside/Out Festival. Today, they continue this partnership with Jacob's Pillow through their signature program: Dance for Social Justice™. Since 2018, DO has been working closely with members of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe through a multi-year partnership with the Aquinnah Cultural Center for the development and presentation of Nupumukômun. They are also collaborating with artists based in Puerto Rico in an ongoing cultural exchange towards the continued development of Melaza: a project that explores the colonial relationship between Puerto Rico and the United States of North America. In this workshop Veronica Robles will share a practical, tactical and effective manual to create, promote and monetize your creative work.

You will learn processes that will help you optimize your administrative time and dedicate more time to your creativity. Her impactful work harnesses the power of arts and culture to unite communities and advocate for diversity. As the co-founder and Director of the Veronica Robles Cultural Center (VROCC) and the founder of Boston's First All-Women Mariachi band, she continues to leave an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of the city.

Robles is Co-founder and Director of the Verónica Robles Cultural Center (VROCC) which supports community action and economic growth in East Boston and offers Latin American arts and culture programming that empowers the youth by teaching them about their roots and diverse cultures and offering employment opportunities. 

In 2022, Univision Network included Robles in the top 10 most influential Latinos nationwide in the category “MiUnivisionario” for her work as co-founder and director of (VROCC). She is also a recipient of the 2021 Change Maker Award offered by the Institute for Nonprofit Practice. 

Ms. Robles received the Ohtli Award. This Award is one of the highest and very limited distinctions given by the Government of Mexico.

As a singer, Verónica has performed at venues such as The Memorial Hatch Shell and Fenway Park, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island, and The Dallas Convention Center. 

In 2018, Verónica founded  “Boston’s First All Women Mariachi Band." The mission of this group is to deliver a message of Peace and Unity in all their performances and public presentations.   Verónica and her Female Band have toured the New England region and performed at countless festivals and important venues and they have received excellent media coverage by mainstream media.  

In 2019, Verónica Robles released a new music album entitled “Cuando Sale la Luna”, recorded with her all-women mariachi band and produced by Willy Lopez. The album includes 9 traditional songs from Mexico and one new song written by Willy Lopez. She also launched her first YouTube channel to share her music with her fans.

Poetry is Busy Studio is an artist-run cultural initiative focused on the well-being of artists and the creative sector.

Mission

Our mission is to disrupt, provoke, and heal the field of cultural work through care practices applied to consultancy, events, and art projects.

Vision

We dream of an intersectional feminist creative ecosystem rooted in alternative design practices, cultural offerings, and solidarity economies.

In 2023, the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture contracted A4A to provide support for Boston & Greater Boston Latine artists. For the next two years we’ll be providing 1:1 consulting, your favorite workshops in your language, plus events to nurture community and learn about care practices that allow us to do our awesome art work!

The partnership is funded by the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture and the American Rescue Plan Act.
