PROGRAM HISTORY
The North Adams Project ran from 2014-2021 as a program to attract artists to our hometown North Adams community. Grants were given to both established North Adams artists and those looking to relocate. Since then, we’ve provided free professional development support and more than $200,000 in grants to 100+ local artists. Now North Adams is known throughout the region for its robust creative community.

In 2021 our attention shifted to ensuring that those artists currently here have the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to set down deep, lasting roots in the Northern Berkshires.

2024 North Adams Project

In 2024 we expanded our local programming to offer the first-ever Capacity-Building Grant program for ALL of the Northern Berkshires*, with the aim of recognizing the interconnection of the vibrant creative communities in our region.

* The Northern Berkshires include 10 towns: Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Hancock, Lanesborough, New Ashford, North Adams, Savoy & Williamstown.

Selected artists received:

  • Individual capacity-building grants

  • Professional development in the form of priority access to Assets for Artists' workshops and 1-on-1 coaching.

  • Access to a tight-knit group of fellow cohort members from across the North Berkshire arts scene.
