Depending on where in the Commonwealth you live, we have a smorgasbord of opportunities for artists in our home state of Massachusetts!

We offer business and finance workshops, 1-on-1 coaching, grants and artist residencies specifically catered toward artists across the Commonwealth. See our current menu of partners and programs below to learn more!

CAPACITY-BUILDING GRANT PROGRAMS

Key to Assets for Artists’ work is the knowledge that artists require working capital to build the success of their creative practice. Each year, A4A partners with a variety of organizations across the state to deliver its core Capacity-Building Grant Program to both region-specific and statewide artists (as a result of COVID-19, some of these grants were fast-tracked as Rapid Response Working Capital Grants, but the program is essentially the same).

All current grant programs can be found on our main grants page

WORKSHOPS

With the COVID-19 pandemic’s devastating effect on practicing artists, Assets for Artists quickly redesigned its business and financial education programming to provide artists with new, crisis-focused, distance-learning opportunities that largely retain the intimate cohort-focused style of our in-person workshops. Some workshops translate our usual offerings into an online format, while many cover new topics that focus specifically on current challenges, relief efforts, and opportunities.

All workshops are FREE and held via Zoom, with pre-registration required to keep the workshop cohorts at a size that maximizes participation and peer support. After you submit your information through the Zoom registration, our staff will contact those who qualify and make the enrollment cut-off with additional details on participating. Contact us at assetsforartists@massmoca.org with any questions.

PEER LEARNING COHORTS

For artists who have gone through our various grant programs in Massachusetts, Assets for Artists has organized a variety of self-led, peer learning alumni cohorts. These groups meet with varying frequency and cohort-determined goals. When new peer learning opportunities arise, we will share them on our monthly e-newsletter.

Programming throughout Southern New England is made possible thanks to the Open For Business Fund at the Wells Fargo Foundation. Our Massachusetts programming is made possible in partnership with the Barr Foundation, the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts’ ValleyCreates Initiative, Essex County Community Foundation’s Creative County Initiative, Greater Worcester Community Foundation’s Creative Worcester Initiative, the Deborah Munroe Noonan Memorial Fund (Bank of America, N.A.,Trustee), and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation.
