Open Call for Exhibitions

Apexart is accepting proposals for its International Open Call for exhibitions. Three winning proposals will be presented as part of apexart’s 2018-19 exhibition season, and can take place anywhere in the world, except for New York City. Curators, artists, writers, and creative individuals, regardless of experience level or location, are invited to submit proposals online.

Fellowships open to Artists & Writers

Vermont Studio Center has 25 VSC Fellowships open to ALL artists and writers living and working anywhere in the world. All applicants will be automatically considered for one of these twenty-five unrestricted awards. These fellowships are for residencies scheduled between May 2018 – December 2018. Every VSC residency opportunity includes private room, private studio space, all meals, and full access to our schedule of evening programs and events.

Video Festival Call

The Icebox Project Space in Philadelphia is pleased to announce their 20/92 Video Festival Call for 2018. The 20/92 Video Festival is a rare opportunity to exhibit your work in a contemporary gallery environment, at unique scale and format. The Icebox Project Space is one of the largest exhibition spaces in the city at nearly 3,500 sq.ft. and has a dedicated projection system which allows for a continuous image to be cast upon its eastern and northern walls, at a maximum size of 20’ x 92’ with a resolution of 3646 x 768.

Fellowship for Artists and Writers

Lighthouse Works has an open call for applications for fellowship sessions in the second half of 2018. The Lighthouse Works’ Fellowship is an artist-in-residence program on Fishers Island, NY, that strives to support artists and writers working in the vanguard of their creative fields. The program accepts artists working in a wide range of disciplines, but we are best able to accommodate visual artists and writers. Fellowships are six weeks in length, occur year round and provide fellows with housing, food, studio space, a $250 travel allowance and a $1,500 stipend. Artistic excellence is the primary criteria for acceptance as a Lighthouse Works fellow.

Remote NY Residency

Residency 108 invites emerging and established artists, writers and thinkers of all disciplines to immerse themselves in their creative practice. We particularly welcome those who work with nature, ecology and the installation of temporary outdoor land-art works. The residency is free apart from the cost of travel and material expenses which must be assumed by the individual. Residents will reside in a 150-year-old two story house, recently renovated for modern comforts. Each participant will have their own bedroom and studio. 108 Residency is located on 108 acres in Clermont, NY.

STARTS Prize 2018 Open Call

Grand prize of the European Commission honoring Innovation in Technology, Industry and Society stimulated by the Arts. Appointed by the European Commission, Ars Electronica, BOZAR and Waag Society are launching a prize to select the most pioneering collaborations and results in the field of creativity and innovation at the crossings of science and technology with the arts. The STARTS Prize focuses on artistic works that influence or change the way we look at technology, and on innovative forms of collaboration between the ICT sector and the world of art and culture.

Sculpture Racing

People's Sculpture Racing is accepting spectacular, human-powered art for its ¾ mile race and exhibition at the June 2 Cambridge Arts River Festival. The Festival is attended by tens of thousands. Schematics or conceptual drawings will be reviewed by List Visual Arts Center Curator Henriette Huldisch; MassArt Chair of 3D Fine Arts Matthew Hincman; and Ballard Museum of Puppetry Director John Bell. Completed works are due the day of the race.

Residency in Rural WI

ACRE’s residency takes place each year outside of rural Steuben, Wisconsin. There, several dozen emerging artists from all over the world join a staff of dedicated volunteers and visiting luminaries. The residency is a time to meet and form collaborations with like-minded peers, make work, learn new skills, and discuss ideas with a group of dedicated, talented makers. Studios are set up to be shared work-spaces and a communal environment is emphasized.

9-MONTH RESIDENCY UPSTATE NY

The Munson-Williams- Proctor Arts Institute School of Art Artists-in Residence program (AIR) calls for two artists that would benefit from focused, self-directed studio time and an interest in teaching in the following areas, ANIMATION or PAINTING/DRAWING. Artists live and work on the MWPAI and PrattMWP College of Art & Design campus in Utica, NY for one academic year. The AIR program is designed for emerging artists or recent visual arts MFA graduates. Residency artists are an energizing and crucial component of the creative life on our campus. The artists interact with the local creative community while developing a self-directed studio practice. Artists receive financial support, housing, meals, a studio, and museum gallery exhibition.

New Residency Opportunity

77Art in Rutland Vermont is thrilled to launch its inaugural artist residency program, which will be held during the month of August 2018. Six visual artists will be selected for this self-directed residency. The residency is designed to give artists time and space to create new works and expand their practice. The residency will culminate in an exhibition of resident work. The emphasis is on community outreach and artists should come prepared to interact with the public during open studios and be present at events throughout the residency period.
