Since opening in 1999, MASS MoCA has become one of the world’s premier centers for making and showing the best art of our time. MASS MoCA exhibits work by many of the most important artists of today—both well known and emerging—focusing on large-scale and complex installations that are impossible to realize in conventional museums.
(Williamstown) In the next town over is The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, an art museum with a world-class collection and is also a center for research and higher education in art history. Located in a beautiful pastoral setting near downtown Williamstown.
A program by MCLA's Berkshire Culture Resource Center, DownStreet Art runs from June through September, holding festive monthly events that coordinate gallery openings and a variety of performances downtown. A great way to showcase your work and connect with others in the local art scene.
A makerspace for creative collaboration to foster new learning opportunities and build a community around a shared passion for making. Located in downtown North Adams, Makers’ Mill is a creative resource for the local community that allows people to work and learn alongside one another.
FIGMENT North Adams
FIGMENT North Adams is a free, participatory arts event held at Windsor Lake. For each event, there is an open call to the community for interactive art that challenges artists and our communities to find new ways to create, share, think, and dream.
MCLA runs this contemporary art gallery on Main Street, presenting work from a wide range of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists — local, national, and internationally.
Eclipse Mill Gallery
A group gallery space lives within this artist live/work building. In addition, many tenants at the Eclipse Mill have studio-retail spaces with regular public hours.
Williams College Museum of Art
(Williastown) A short ride from North Adams is the Williams College Museum of Art, an active collecting museum whose galleries, exhibitions, and programs are free and open to the public. (Not to be missed: The eyeball sculptures shoot colorful beams of light at night.)
Lichtenstein Center for the Arts
(Pittsfield) A community arts center housed in a historic building in Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District.
First Fridays Artswalk
